Amy Leigh Strickland was born Amy Leigh Albro on June 8, 1986 in a hospital
in Nashua, NH. She was raised for eighteen years in Townsend, MA, participating
in Drama Club, Girl Scouts, Art Club, Flight Student Literary Magazine, and the
National Honors Society. Amy graduated as a Gold Award Girl Scout, as President
of her school's chapter of the NHS, and received the Flag Award for
citizenship.
After graduating High School, Amy enrolled in the Savannah College of Art and
Design. Amy earned her BFA in Performing Arts at SCAD, and she starred in Sharon
Ott's 2008 production of Oliver Twist as the title role. During this time, she
also took advantage of her electives, studying writing, Shakespeare, and World
Mythology. It was here that she met her future husband, Kyle Strickland.
In the summer of 2008, BFA in-hand, Amy returned to Townsend, MA to plan her
wedding. She began writing her first novel while working retail and doing
freelance web design work. On April 24, 2010, Amy married and became Amy Leigh
Strickland. Days after returning from her honeymoon, Amy packed up and moved to
Alabama.
Amy's first published novel, Olympia Heights: The Pantheon, was released in
July of 2011. Its sequels, Olympia Heights: The Weight of the World and Olympia
Heights: The Blood of Athens followed. In 2013, Strickland published Rescue OR,
Royer Goldhawk's Remarkable Journal, an American steampunk adventure novel. Its
sequel is expected in 2014.
Strickland holds a Masters of Secondary Education (English Language Arts)
from the University of Montevallo.
